Yes, COF has gotten a much-needed makeover. The old-style HTML just wasn’t streamlined enough, so it was moved over to WordPress. But we kept (or at least tried to) the simplicity. Appreciate you taking the time to say hi – something I wish a lot of the old visitors would do more often (it definitely works both way, but because everyone had a “nickname” back then – and/or their emails are no loner active – it’s definitely a challenge!).

There was an editorial on Chow Yun Fat movies on Rotten Tomatoes, asking for the best one. It shoeed a list of the ‘reviewed’ movies he has been and it was missing a bunch which I had watched in the late 90s. So it got me thinking of the my younger days lol watching a ton of Hong Kong titles etc and I remembered the site, didn’t recognize it at first.

Good to hear from you Ozark Savage! It has been YEARS. Curious – what made you revisit the site? Glad you saw that your name is credited as one of the early movers of the site.

great to see it all still so strong for you, this site was fantastic 20 years ago when HK cinema was all i watched. Got married, kids and life since. but now i need a Chow Yun Fat marathon!

I was just thinking how old your site was and thus went to the “about” page. Nice work man! 1996! I reckon you should have this boldly on the home page “Since 1996” because you earned it, its a fact. Many of the sites from back then are long-gone. So City On Fire is O.G.

My favourite review will probably always be the one written by David Bell concerning CITY ON FIRE. I read it when I was a teenager, using a computer at high school. I remember exactly where I was and it was the first time I read a film review of any kind that was funny. Im now about to turn 34 and decided to re-read it and it stands the test of time as genuinely witty prose.

Adam, I agree with JJ! There has to be a bug in the process somewhere. Did the test e-mail from MPM work?

Adam try what MPM asks. Oh and did you try what I suggested with the email? I’m helping someone else set up an account and it might seem easy but sometimes e mails, at least mine lol, don’t come out the way I intended. And check your SPAM too.
