It still works as a popcorn worthy, one time watch if you prefer to hear skulls cracking or might we say, slashing.

I hope he did this before Roundup 4 so that he could learn from any mistakes that were made. Ahn Ji-Hye being a highlight is good to read about, since she should be headlining more action films.

Yes Korea’s Mad Max + Resident Evil breaks ZERO new ground in it’s narrative so transforming this into a Dong Seok Actioner was pretty much the right way to go. Korean Cinema’s answer to Stallone/Schwarzenegger/Statham has by now honed his tough guy persona to precision; the Hulking Behemoth who ploughs through the Opposition while maintaining a level of incredulity that “these guys are actually pulling this shit”. And talks to the meanest killer with the tone of a headmaster admonishing an errant student. Only Dong Seok could sell a line like rudely beckoning a baddie “Hey you, come here” with the awe inspiring confidence that it will be instantly obeyed. And the scene where Dong Seok decides a bunch of assholes are “of no use and should really take a nap” ranks as one of the funniest put downs I’ve seen in an action movie for quite some time. On the down side, it also means Dong Seok is firmly in the ranks of Bruce Lee, Michael Jai White and Steven Seagal as mostly “touch me not” tough guys who at the most take one hit but dishes out the punishment 99.9999% of the time, which kinda leaches the fights of tension, although The Roundup/Outlaw flicks gets around this by showcasing some truly repellant villains, something BADLAND HUNTER lacks.

But loved the brutal, gory R-Rated finale.

Perfectly serviceable, and should do for some Ma Dong Seok action fix until the 4th ROUNDUP comes along
