Hey Mike, I’m in firm agreement with you. I feel like this is actually one of the best movies of Jean-Claude Van Damme’s career. It’s not the second coming of ‘Drive’ or anything, but as a downbeat Euro crime-thriller with a little bit of action and a great performance by JCVD, it does the trick.

Haha! I didn’t count Enemies Closer just because Tom Everet Scott and Orlando Jones had more screen time than Van Damme. But he was a good villain.

Kill em All doesn’t count just because it sucks like the review said.

Until Death was a unique one since there’s not a lot of action, and Van Damme plays a piece of shit. Unlike Wahlberg in Mile 22 though, there was more depth to his unlikable character.

Stephen Rea plays the villain, and even though he’s only there for a paycheck, he gives his role credibility.

It’s weird, Until Death is one of the only JCVD-headlining movies that I haven’t seen (does Kill ‘Em All even count? Cause I haven’t seen that). I’ve always been intrigued by it, since Van Damme had such a burnt out look in the flick, and it was co-written by “X2’s” Dan Harris. Not the kind of person you typically expect to be writing a Van Damme flick.

I thought Pound of Flesh barely cohered as a movie, but Six Bullets wasn’t half bad. I think I’d rank Enemies Closer higher than both of them, even if Van Damme plays the bad guy.

Hmm. That’s a unique comparison I find those three films to be equal in that they’re almost good but are a structural mess. I’d say it’s still enough for me to give Bouncer a chance.

Personally I’d rank it above Pound of Flesh, on the level of Until Death, but below Six Bullets.
