Yeah, it really does feel like a modern crime pic in a period setting, complete with “hitmen” and “corrupt cops.” I think fans of film noir and gritty crime films should like it, but it will also appeal to the martial arts crowd. It’s a cool movie. You’re right, Chang Chen often gets supporting actor gigs. I’ve always liked Chen, especially in ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.’ He’s good here in the lead role and personally I’d like to see him get more of these types of parts.

I like how it’s a period film with a plot that you’d see in today’s modern crime film. It’s good to see Chang Chen headlining a solid movie. I know the guy has had moderate success, but for the most part, he’s sorta that guy-behind-the-guy when it comes to Chinese actors. And hooker with a heart of gold, huh? I’m thinking True Romance, Pretty Woman, Taxi Driver and The Unforgiven! Thanks for the review!
