Now available for pre-order exclusively from Goodie Emporium is Rising Tiger’s Limited Edition Blu-ray and DVD for The Brokenhearted, an award-winning indie thriller from writer, director and star, Leroy Nguyen (of the acclaimed Black Scar Blues).
Supplies are extremely limited, given its small production on physical media. As a bonus, the first 25 copies of The Brokenhearted will be hand-signed by the director himself.
So few legitimate independent, DIY-action feature films have been made (zero budget) by just calling in favors from friends to act. The Brokenhearted is true guerrilla-style filmmaking from one of the most acclaimed talents in the indie game!
A weary, small-time hoodlum (Nguyen) attempts to quell the escalating conflict between two of his childhood friends-one a struggling martial artist whose school fails after he takes out a loan, and the other a vicious loan shark intent on collecting the debt. The film also stars Samuel Joon Lee, Jackie Kim, Travis Davis, Gene Rush and Alex Au.
Limited Edition Features:
- Signed by writer, director and star, Leroy Nguyen (first 25 copies only)
- Collector’s card Signed by Leroy Nguyen (first 25 copies only)
- We had the dojang: The making of The Brokenhearted

The Blu-ray and DVD for The Brokenhearted will ship in the beginning of September. Secure your signed copy today exclusively at Goodie Emporium.

Good looking trailer. It takes a certain something to make a movie that would still be interesting if there weren’t any fight scenes.
I’m going to have to agree with you. The trailer has some nice tension. Where can I watch this??
Thanks a lot for checking out the trailer! We’re actually doing a festival run soon. The film just got accepted at The Urban Action Showcase International Film Festival and will be screening November 9th, 2024 at the AMC Theater in Times Square, NYC.
I’m hoping to have the film released by late this year/early next year on Blu-Ray and streaming. To be quite honest though, this really is a DIY, backyard independent sort of film, so the priority was just to get it finished and to get it as good as it could be. That said, we didn’t really have a marketing strategy, and I don’t expect much on the festival circuit (I’ve learned film festivals aren’t really much of anything nowadays anyway). I really don’t want to shamelessly plug my social media channels, because I hate social media…but if you follow Rising Tiger Films on Facebook and Instagram, as well as on YouTube (https://youtube.com/@risingtigerfilms?si=cikv6ZW4OhPUd86e), that should keep you up to date with the release.
Thanks again!
